It is most apparent when conversing with him that brother Fred is a highly intelligent and perceptive man. His core moral values had been inherited from our parents.
And when speaking about the “‘good ole’ days” of our youth, his more than passing comments about our parents seem proof-positive of his love, affection and respect for our parents. His voice level jumps up a decibel or two when he wants to emphasize the different aspects of our parents’ way of life during our youth.
He was later appointed by US Congressman Thomas P. Gill as the Molokai Director of the Maui County Economic Opportunity. During his many years of tenure, he had made a difference on some of the social, political, and economic issues which were then confronting the people of Molokai. To this day, he is still remembered for his many and varied contributory efforts in that regard.
His ability of instantaneous recall of jokes appropriate for the occasion at hand from his mentally-indexed repertoire of jokes gathered throughout the years is notable.
